Mr. Samson S. Soshyo

Mr. Samson S. Soshyo is a seasoned professional with over two decades of experience in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), blending hands-on industry expertise with academic leadership. Currently serving as the Deputy Director, Assessment and Certification at TVET CDACC, he plays a pivotal role in shaping Kenya’s TVET landscape by overseeing national Competency Based Assessments and Certification standards. His work ensures that vocational training aligns with the evolving demands of the labour market, particularly in high-growth sectors such as sustainable energy and industrial technology.

Before joining TVET CDACC in January 2025, Mr. Soshyo served as an Assistant Lecturer and Master Trainer at the Technical University of Mombasa (TUM), where he specialized in Competency-Based Education, Training, and Assessment (CBETA). His practical experience as a licensed electrician, accredited by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA), and as a site supervisor under the National Construction Authority (NCA), gives him a unique perspective on bridging the gap between classroom instruction and real-world industry needs.

A lifelong advocate for skills development, Mr. Soshyo holds advanced qualifications, including a Master of Technology in Sustainable Energy Engineering from TUM and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Communications Engineering from Moi University. His additional credentials—such as a Post Graduate Diploma in Education, a Diploma in Project Management, and certifications as a trainer, assessor, and verifier—underscore his commitment to excellence in both education and industry.

Beyond his administrative and teaching roles, Mr. Soshyo is actively engaged in research, focusing on sustainable energy applications and innovative solutions for Kenya’s power and agricultural sectors.

His vision is to cultivate a TVET system that produces highly skilled professionals capable of driving economic growth and technological advancement. Through his leadership, he continues to champion policies and programs that empower trainees, support industry needs, and elevate the status of vocational training in Kenya.

Mr. Soshyo’s career exemplifies the transformative power of TVET, combining technical proficiency, educational innovation, and a deep commitment to national development. His contributions are instrumental in preparing Kenya’s workforce for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.
